The Energy industry is driving a significant amount of projected growth in the region with Support activities for mining and oil and gas extraction and oil and gas extraction accounting for 6,334 high paying jobs in the region, while Pulp, paper and paperboard mills support another 771 high paying jobs. Support industries in Specialized freight trucking and General freight trucking are benefiting from and supporting this growth in Energy and Forestry.

The top two fastest growing occupations are Transport truck and transit drivers across industries account for 3,334 jobs in 2024 and there is a projected 548 job increase in line with Machinery and transportation equipment mechanics (except motor vehicles) increasing by 474 by 2031. These two industries directly support the Energy Industry where the next three highest growing occupations Underground miners, oil and gas drillers and related occupations (294),  Contractors and supervisors, mining, oil and gas (145) and Operators, drillers and blasters (91).
